I thought I'd begin with this technique, since it is a harder one to play!
The reasoning being is that if you can get some good consistency playing this technique, it'll hold you in good stead for the rest of this weeks techniques. The name of this piece is kind of deceiving. It involves popping a string with your index finger, then immediately slapping the same string (note) with your thumb. This is shown both on the video and the tab/notation (click on the images to the left to view). Therefore, if you play slap in 16th's, the gap between each note struck is 1/16th bar, which is fast playing at 120 beats per minute!

For demonstration purposes, I like to play A-B-D DD-E. That is D-String 7th Fret hammer on to 9th Fret, popped G-String 7th fret, dampened open E-String... THEN the double G-String 7th Fret, first popped then immediately after struck with the thumb. Finish off with a popped G-String 9th Fret. If you need to, use a metronome or click to keep time.
This can be a rather daunting task to begin with if you haven't seen this technique before, but perseverance is the key to consistency. Keep at it. Start slow at first and build up speed. You'll be surprised at how fast this technique can make you sound!
